Mikael Minasyan: Seven Things Nikol Could Have Done — But Didn’t
“The war began because you did everything to sabotage the negotiations and turn the enemy’s dream into reality - to make the world see justification for its war ambitions,” Golos Armenii newspaper quotes Mikael Minasyan, former Ambassador of Armenia to the Vatican, as saying. On November 12, 2020, Minasyan took to his Facebook page to list what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan could have done to prevent the catastrophe in Artsakh, but chose not to.
“SEVEN FACTS ABOUT WHAT NIKOL PASHINYAN COULD HAVE DONE, BUT CUNNINGLY CHOSE NOT TO. I listened to the nonsense spewed by that cunning traitor during his 20-minute speech, where he claimed he had to surrender the homeland to save the remaining troops
Let’s set aside the fact that this is a complete lie. Here are the facts the public doesn’t know - facts you, traitor Nikol, have been deliberately hiding all this time.
You insist that the war was inevitable. No! The war began because you did everything to sabotage the negotiations and turn the enemy’s dream into reality - to make the world see justification for its war ambitions. You declared that the negotiations are senseless, thus provoking military actions!
- “On the second day of the war, you were offered the chance to resign and hand over the post of prime minister to someone from your own team. In return, mediators guaranteed that the war would stop and negotiations would resume. You refused.
- An hour later, you were guaranteed that the war would stop immediately, if you have doubts that it would not stop after you resign. You were again asked to resign so that talks could continue, and you refused.
- On the fifth day, after key strategic and tactical positions were lost, mediators proposed that Armenia cede just one region in return for restarting the negotiation process. You declined.
- On October 20, you finally agreed to the previous offer, but by then it was too late. You were then offered a plan where four regions would be ceded, peacekeepers would be deployed, and Karvachar and Lachin would remain under Armenian control. You refused again.
- On October 22, another offer came: five regions in exchange for peacekeepers and free movement for Azerbaijanis into Shushi - still without a change to Artsakh’s borders. You declined.
- On October 23, yet another proposal: five regions and Shushi — but no status for Artsakh or boundary adjustments. Again, you refused.
- On November 7, two days before the capitulation, the final offer included five regions, Shushi, Karvachar, and part of Lachin. You rejected this as well.
Eventually, on November 10, like a thief, you signed the shameful document on the capitulation and betrayed the homeland.
Ultimately, on November 10, you signed the ceasefire document without securing any status for Artsakh, without a negotiated settlement, and with no framework to protect the future. You agreed to surrender seven regions, as well as parts of Hadrut and Martuni, and to allow the return of Azerbaijanis to Artsakh.
You agreed without demanding in exchange any status or agreement on Artsakh, without getting a single chance to correct the situation in the future.
Following that, you accepted the opening of the Meghri corridor, effectively compromising Armenia’s sovereignty.
This is the reality. These are undisputable facts. Facts that will be following you throughout your life. They will be following your family as well, your teammates. You and your team will be nailed to the barndoor and declared enemies of the Armenian people.
The time of keeping the power by means of lie and manipulations is over.
Traitor, leave, until it is too late to save anything,” Mikayev Minasyan writes in his post.
