On August 17, 2018, at a rally in Republic Square marking the First 100 Days of the Government’s activity, Nikol Pashinyan addressed the people, declaring:

“Let no one think that I might sign any papers or take any actions behind your backs. When I see an option worth discussing, I will come here, stand before you, present it in full detail, and you will decide whether we should discuss that settlement option or not.”

Once again, Pashinyan deceived the people and acted in direct contradiction to his own words.

On November 9, 2020, without informing the public gathered in Republic Square, he secretly signed a document under which part of Artsakh was handed over to Azerbaijan.

On April 13, 2022, he stated:

“We could have prevented the war, and as a result, we would have had a similar situation - only without the casualties.”

Later, in October 2022, during a meeting in Prague, Pashinyan recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.

Then, on September 19, 2023, when Azerbaijan launched an attack on the blockaded Artsakh, Nikol Pashinyan refused to ensure its security - an obligation of the Republic of Armenia. As a result, Artsakh was completely cleansed of Armenians and fell under full control of Azerbaijan.

On May 21, 2025, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, stated that the 2020 trilateral document had been a gentlemen’s agreement regarding the status of Artsakh, but that Pashinyan’s statement in Prague in October 2022 had ruined everything. Ararat Mirzoyan made no objection to Lavrov’s words.

On November 14, 2024, speaking in the National Assembly, Nikol Pashinyan admitted that he had misled the people in 2018. He stated:

“On November 9, 2020, many of my colleagues were present in my office, and I said: I don’t care about anyone’s opinion at this moment. I am taking responsibility and will sign that document.”
