Pashinyan Refused Ruben Vardanyan’s Family Request to Appeal to Donald Trump
July 15, 2025. Telegram Channel “Armenia’s Chronicles” writes:
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has rejected a request from the family of Ruben Vardanyan to send an official letter to former U.S. President Donald Trump, asking for assistance in securing the release of the former State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh, according to Hraparak newspaper.
The newspaper reports that a number of influential Armenians in the United States held discussions with individuals close to Trump, including reaching out to his son-in-law. Trump reportedly agreed to intervene, but only in response to an official request from the Armenian government. Vardanyan’s family submitted an appeal to the Prime Minister through Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, Lilit Makunts. However, the request was denied, reportedly due to concerns that it could jeopardize the ongoing peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
