Could Pashinyan Have Carried Out the “Velvet Revolution” on His Own, or Was Everything Planned by Serzh Sargsyan?

In his video blog, Vardan Ghukasyan (DOG) casts doubt on the claim that Nikol Pashinyan carried out the so-called “velvet revolution” and seized power on his own by marching from Gyumri to Yerevan. Ghukasyan is convinced that the then Minister of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Gasparyan, was fully capable of suppressing any unrest at an early stage. According to him, Gasparyan could have organized the disappearance of Pashinyan’s associates marching alongside him, including figures such as Avinyan and Harutyunyan.

Therefore, based on these circumstances, it is difficult to assume that the “velvet revolution” was solely Pashinyan’s own initiative. On the contrary, there are well-founded suspicions that Serzh Sargsyan directly orchestrated these events, using his authority and resources to control the process and simulate a “peaceful transfer of power.”
