A Tragedy of Modern History – September 19, 2023

The Verelq.am Information and Analytical Center has published a statement by Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the Country for Life party, commemorating the anniversary of the tragic events of September 19, 2023, in Artsakh.

September 19, 2023, marks one of the darkest chapters in Armenia’s modern history. As a result of Azerbaijan’s latest large-scale military aggression, the people of Artsakh were forced to flee their homeland, subjected to what can only be described as ethnic cleansing.

Even after enduring nine months of an illegal blockade - cut off from food and essential supplies - the population of Artsakh showed exceptional courage in defending their land and inflicting losses on the enemy.

Responsibility for what happened in Artsakh lies with the current Armenian authorities, whose shameful diplomacy left Artsakh face-to-face with the aggressor.

All of this unfolded amid the criminal inaction of the international community - a pattern that continues to this day when it comes to the issue of Artsakh.

Eternal glory to the Armenians who gave their lives for the homeland.
