{"id":6550,"date":"2025-09-23T19:29:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T16:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armtribunal.com\/?p=6550"},"modified":"2025-09-24T10:48:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T07:48:41","slug":"ria-novosti-jeks-prezident-armenii-obvinil-pashinjana-v-predatelstve-naroda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armtribunal.com\/en\/2025\/09\/23\/ria-novosti-jeks-prezident-armenii-obvinil-pashinjana-v-predatelstve-naroda\/","title":{"rendered":"RIA Novosti: Armenia\u2019s First President Accuses Pashinyan of Betraying the Nation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>22.09.2025. <a href=\"https:\/\/ria.ru\/20250922\/pashinyan-2043596712.html\">RIA Novosti reports:<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the first President of Armenia, has accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of betraying the Armenian people, saying he has earned a place on the \u201cmemorial wall of national traitors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Ter-Petrosyan, Pashinyan\u2019s 2019 declaration that \u201cArtsakh is Armenia\u201d provoked the war with Azerbaijan and ultimately led to Armenia\u2019s crushing defeat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also criticized the Prime Minister for \u201crecklessly rejecting\u201d a ceasefire proposal from Russian President Vladimir Putin during the 2020 Karabakh conflict. As a result, Ter-Petrosyan claims, Pashinyan\u2019s policies have led to the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Karabakh, the imprisonment of Karabakh\u2019s leadership in Azerbaijan, and ongoing issues faced by displaced Armenians, many of whom may now be compelled to leave Armenia altogether.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The former president also criticized Pashinyan for what he described as \u201ccynically declaring on a daily basis that he has brought peace to the Armenian people,\u201d while expecting and even demanding gratitude, and reacting with \u201cspiteful remarks\u201d when that gratitude is not expressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOne can state with certainty that Pashinyan has already earned his \u2018honorable\u2019 place on the memorial board of known traitors to the Armenian people,\u201d Ter-Petrosyan wrote on his Facebook account (Facebook is banned in the Russian Federation).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the armed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in 1992\u20131994, Nagorno-Karabakh functioned for decades as a de facto but unrecognized Armenian-populated republic. In September 2020, hostilities resumed in the region. With Moscow\u2019s mediation, a ceasefire agreement was reached on the night of November 9\u201310. As a result, Armenia lost control over all territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as several areas within the former Soviet-era autonomous region. Russian peacekeepers were subsequently deployed to the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2022, Armenia and Azerbaijan began negotiating a peace treaty with the mediation of Russia, the United States, and the European Union. In late May 2023, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Yerevan was prepared to recognize Azerbaijan\u2019s sovereignty within its Soviet-era borders, which includes Nagorno-Karabakh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a military operation in Karabakh that lasted approximately one day.
