Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan, who was elected to the position by the Parliament, submitted his resignation on April 23, 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appeal to those who want my resignation. Nikol Pashinyan was right, I was wrong. There are several solutions, but none is right for me. I am leaving the position of prime minister and head of Armenia. Peace, harmony, and tolerance to us all,' Sargsyan stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Protests demanding Sargsyan\u2019s resignation began in Yerevan on April 16.\"<\/p>\n

On April 22, at the Marriott Hotel in Yerevan, an attempt was made to hold negotiations between Serzh Sargsyan and opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan. However, the meeting turned out to be a publicity stunt.<\/p>\n

Hayk Nahapetyan, coordinator of the \u201cFor Restoration of Sovereignty\u201d initiative and a retired colonel, pointed out that the protests exhibited certain elements typical of color revolutions orchestrated by the West in some CIS and Maghreb countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing Gene Sharp\u2019s methods outlined in \u2018From Dictatorship to Democracy,\u2019 over 70 steps were implemented in Armenia at that time,\u201d Nahapetyan stated. \u201cThose who led the revolution had a clear vision and calculated everything. We saw similar patterns in Yugoslavia, Egypt, and Syria. I have long argued that the goal of these coups was the West\u2019s, particularly the United States\u2019, effort to strike Russia from all sides, as there is an ongoing \u2018undeclared war.\u2019 Naturally, Armenia, as Russia\u2019s ally, is among the West\u2019s targets.\"<\/p><\/blockquote>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
